Speed a problem

Stephan Knoll, Liberal candidate for Schubert, has found a common concern among residents from all around the Barossa Valley - speed limits.

According to Stephan residents have approached him and told him that they are frustrated at the high degree of inconsistency in speed limits for like roads.

“It’s an issue we need to fix,” Stephan said.

“Residents want to know why Gomersal Road is only 90km while the Mount Pleasant-Angaston Road is 100km and the roads are very similar.

“There is also a push on by the state government to lower the speed limit on many roads from 110 to 100km/hr. This I think punishes the people that do the right thing and those that speed recklessly will still continue to do so.

“What I think we need is a broad approach to road safety.

“The first step is to get into the party room and make a difference.”

Stephan will be exploring the issue further and he hopes to start seeing some consistency in speed limits around the region in the near future.
