THE Liberal, Greens and Family First parties have put forward nominations for the seat of Flinders in the state election, but the Nationals will not have a candidate.
Current Member for Flinders, the Liberal Party’s Peter Treloar has nominated, and past candidate Felicity Wright has nominated for the Greens.
Ms Wright is currently based in Arnhem Land but is a former Coffin Bay local.
Family First’s candidate is Grant Wilson who contested the seat in 2010.
Mr Wilson has an accounting and finance background in Australia and the United Kingdom.
He and his family have lived in Port Lincoln for four years.
Nationals South Australia president Grantley Siviour said the party could not find anyone willing to take on the task.
He said while he still believed the rise in nomination costs was exorbitant and a way for the major parties to edge other parties out, it was not the reason behind the lack of potential candidates.
“It’s just that no one’s interested,” he said.
Nominations opened on Saturday and close on February 24, with other parties yet to confirm whether they have nominated candidates.
