Eyre United 7-6 lost to United Yeelanna 30-19
EYRE United won the toss and was kicking with the aid of a strong breeze.
Saints got the early lead with a long goal to Miller but Eagles replied with a 50-metre penalty to Xavier Watson.
The game was opening up which meant Burgoyne and Amos were getting a bit of run and carry for the Saints.
Miller, Breen and Davey all converted to get an early lead. Yeelanna was efficient up forward however and late goals to Breed and the Crettenden brothers meant the game was pretty even with the Eagles leading 5-4 to 5-1.
With the wind, the Eagles started to assert some dominance with four goals in the first five minutes.
Norton was playing well in ruck, giving his onballers first look, making things difficult for the Saints backline with the ball coming into 50 quickly and accurately.
It was raining goals for Bryce Breed and Matt and Steve Crettenden and Yeelanna lead by 63 points at half time.
The second half started much like before the main break - the Eagles midfield were taking charge and in five minutes had another four goals.
Eyre United looked flat and the only goal they could muster was a fortunate soccer goal to Tonkin.
The goals continued to pile on for the Eagles with many contributors getting in on the action.
A late goal to Pfitzner for the Saints meant they went into three-quarter time 7-5 to Yeelanna 23-14.
Yeelanna continued to be ruthless as they consistently kicked the ball inside 50.
Jordan Telfer was playing well to try stemming the flow at half back for the Saints but with Watson, Martin and Jolly running amok, the goals did not stop coming.
Yeelanna looked organised and composed at the contest, always with players on the outside to punish the Saints whenever they got possession.
The match finished with Yeelanna kicking seven goals for the quarter.
