Tumby Bay approves 2017/18 budget

Tumby Bay mayor Sam Telfer says the council’s adopted annual business plan is ahead of its long term financial outlook.

Tumby Bay District Council passed its Annual Business Plan at a special meeting today following its consultation period and a public meeting on June 21.

An average increase of 4 per cent in general rates, including the fixed charge, remains unchanged.

Mr Telfer said the budget was not only in line with the council’s Long Term Financial Plan, but was also ahead of its planned position.

“It gives ratepayers a lot more sense of transparency when it comes to council budget deliberation and they can see ahead of time council’s projected financial direction,” he said.

Mr Telfer said the council was determined to deliver infrastructure projects including the Port Neill foreshore upgrade.
