Port Lincoln child care centre celebrating 30 years

Sunday will see Toybox Community Child Care Centre celebrate 30 years of providing childcare for Port Lincoln and is inviting the community to celebrate.

A 30 years celebration will be held at the child care centre on New West Road from 10am with activities available for children including face painting and a bouncy castle.

Toybox director Chantelle Sugden said the event was also a chance to showcase what the centre had done in the past few years.

“It’s pretty special, we’ve been providing care for Eyre Peninsula, and especially Lower Eyre Peninsula for 30 years,” she said.

“In the last four years I’ve been working here we’ve had a very progressive time, we wanted to collate all that together and celebrate with past and present families.”

The event will also give people the chance to see the new nursery outdoor play space.

Ms Sugden said the play space was a year in the making and was thanks to a grant from Port Lincoln Community Bank.

People can also learn information about the centre, including how it worked with the Port Lincoln City Council on the Heritage Trail.

Ms Sugden said the child care centre has prided itself for 30 years in providing community based child care.

“We are the only community based child care centre on Lower Eyre Peninsula, which means our philosophy is about community and provision of high quality care for the community,” she said.

“We are a not for profit organisation, so all of our funds go straight back to the children.”
