Eyre Peninsula residents warned about Durdin

Eyre Peninsula residents who have had electrical work completed by Les Durdin or Durdin Electrical have been urged to get the work checked immediately by a licensed electrician.

The Office of the Technical Regulator said Mr Durdin, who has been operating in Port Lincoln, Whyalla and Port Augusta, has not had an appropriate licence to carry out electrical work since 2010.

The office audited Mr Durdin’s electrical work, such as generator installations, and found it posed a risk to people’s safety.

Technical regulator Rob Faunt said anyone who had had work done by Mr Durdin should contact a licenced electrical tradesperson immediately to check the work.

“When using a licensed tradesperson you should ask to see their appropriate South Australian trade licence and ask for an electrical, gas or plumbing certificate of compliance for the work they do for you,” he said.

“You should keep your certificate of compliance and the invoice for the work, as proof that the work was done correctly, for at least five years.”

Mr Durdin was unavailable for comment before deadline.
