An angle grinder was the cause of a small grass fire on private property at Rustlers Gully Friday morning.
Port Lincoln MFS were called to Sarah Crescent just before 8.30am following reports of smoke and flames being seen at the rear of a property.
Officers arrived to find the fire had already been put out by the resident after burning five square metres of grassland.
Port Lincoln MFS station officer Shane Porter said the fire was by the resident using an angle grinder, but they acted quickly using an on-hand garden hose to extinguish it.
Due to the fire being in an areas of high vegetation MFS inspected the fire area and hosed it down to avoid the possibility of reignition.
Mr Porter said anyone using an angle grinder must ensure they have a four-metre area clear of flammable materials and have either a hose or extinguisher on hand.
He said on days of total fire ban people can not use angle grinders are prohibited unless they have a permit from the council.
