The Cummins Golf Club ladies season opened on Wednesday, April 11.
Ladies president Leah Carr welcomed everyone and wished all the best for the season. Fiona Dahlitz captain then welcomed visiting player Judy Stirling from Tumby Bay and new club member Julie Crettenden.
Fifteen ladies took to the course in a 12-hole ambrose, playing for the Dynamic Stationary Plus Trophy.
Dahlitz had the honor of the first hit for the season with a lovely straight and long drive.
A very hot and dry day made the course a challenge with golf balls rolling further than anticipated. The new scrapes were another challenge to competitors with the judgment of soft or hard.
With the day heating up to more than 34 degrees and little wind, a few ladies made their way into the clubhouse due to over heating.
Winners were Leonie Phelps, Chris Koch and Fiona Dahlitz. Port Lincoln Intersport nearest the pin on number four winner was Tracey Wooley and the team novelty was awarded to Leah Carr, Kate Murnane and Judy Stirling. Crettenden was awarded for her consistent straight shots and great choice of shirt.
Carr also congratulated Liz Blacker on her Cummins Golf Club life membership.
Wednesday will be a stableford; names in by 9.30am.
