Lower Eyre Peninsula residents are being asked to prepare for severe weather as a cold front moves across the state on Thursday.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe weather warning at 3.41pm Wednesday for people in Lower Eyre Peninsula, Adelaide Metropolitan, Mount Lofty Ranges, Yorke Peninsula, Kangaroo Island, Upper South East, Lower South East and parts of Mid North and Murraylands districts.
The bureau has forecast a vigorous cold front will move across the southern half of the state on Thursday and is expected to reach southern Eyre Peninsula by midday.
Winds with gusts in excess of 90 kilometres per hour may occur with showers and thunderstorms expected ahead of, with and following the cold front.
The State Emergency Service has advised people to move vehicles under cover or away from trees, secure or put away loose items and to stay indoors and away from windows while conditions were severe.
