Work has started on the $50,000 rebuild of the Coles Point staircase, which should be completed by the start of August.
The beach is closed for the duration of the work which started on July 3.
Work on the staircase consists of installing concrete footings, timber landings and steps.
The staircase, which was demolished in the October 2016 storms, will allow safe beach access for beachgoers and fishers.
Full funding for the project came from a grant to the Lower Eyre Peninsula District Council through the South Australian Recreational Fishing Grants Program.
The program provides community grants of up to $100,000 to support recreational fishing in South Australia.
The staircase was one of 22 projects to receive funding by the program.
The stairs and landings will meet the latest building standards and will be a major improvement over the original work which was constructed in the early 2000’s.
