We had some great fishing weather this week, hopefully you all managed to catch a feed somewhere.
Now for what was biting and where.
Salmon are being caught at most beaches, the best fish are getting caught at Locks Well or Talia beaches.
Brined pilchards or metal lures are working the best.
Only a few reports of King George whiting coming from inside the bay but fish were reasonably well sized considering they are generally on the smaller side.
Salmon trout, flathead, and the odd squid were the other species caught.
Farm Beach is fishing well for King George to 42 centimetres in deeper water up towards Gallipoli and Frenchman.
Boaties reported smaller sized snapper and decent numbers of King George whiting from Buffalo Reef.
Proper and Louth bays both had decent numbers of King George whiting, generally of decent size.
Be prepared to release a lot of red mullet and a few other species in between.
Squid remain a popular and easily accessible target with good reports coming from most locations locally.
Land based anglers did well from all boat ramps including Snapper Rock, Snooks Landing, and the town jetty. Boaties did best along the North Shore.
Sleaford to Wanna continues to fire for land based anglers chasing winter salmon.
Schools can be seen reasonably close to the shoreline making lure casting a well worth it exercise.
Metal slugs generally provide the best results, however for a bit more of a thrill, try casting a surface popper, soft plastic or even a fly rod with a fly such as a clouser.
Yellowfin whiting are holding in good numbers along the town foreshore, with most fish coming from the Limani Motel.
Fish can be very fussy and only eat on certain days, on certain baits.
Best results are coming from anglers fishing extremely light gear, using worms, clickers, or small shrimps as bait, along with having a whole lot of patience.
PORT NEILL/ARNO BAY
King George whiting continue to be the main target with fish to 40 centimetres being caught in close.
There are still a few rugger snapper around, but they are getting harder to locate.
King George whiting catches have increased at The Group in the past few weeks with most boaties returning with a decent haul.
Some boaties reported good snapper catches from The Group providing you had patience and persistence.
Fat squid were also caught in decent numbers.
Best coloured jigs are black, white and the King George patterns.
