Elliston maintained their grip on second place on the Mid West football ladder with a 79-point thrashing of Western Districts on Saturday.
The Roosters produced a superb first quarter and were never tested from there as they won 23-17 (155) to 10-16 (76).
Tom Rumbelow was a menace in the forward line with six goals and was ably assisted by five from Guy Hutchinson.
Damon King-O’Loughlin got four goals for Districts.
Elliston soared clear in the first term with 11 goals to three to lead by 51 points at quarter-time, although they managed only seven behinds in the second term as the Tigers hit back with three goals and a further nine behinds.
The Roosters re-established their dominance in the third term with five goals to two behinds to see the lead rise to 63 points, then carried that momentum into the final term as they rammed home a further seven goals to four.
They remain eight points behind leaders West Coast, who smashed Wudinna by 105 points.
The Hawks dominated from the outset to come away with a 20-23 (143) to 5-8 (38) victory.
The home side had 13 scoring shots to Wudinna’s one in the opening term to lead by 32 points, then added six goals in the second quarter to a solitary major from the visitors.
Up by 66 points against the bottom side, the Hawks continued to add to the scoreboard after half-time.
They put through four goals in the third quarter and finished the match with five goals in the final term.
Nicholas Schumann led the scoring with four goals and a trio of players – Cameron Montgomerie, Derick Freeman and Tyson Montgomerie – kicked three.
Thomas Dupree replied with two goals for the Magpies.
A big first half helped Central Eyre to victory by 24 points against Wirrulla.
Wirrulla did not kick a goal until the third term which helped the Bulldogs to a 10-11 (71) to 6-11 (47) result.
Central Eyre kicked four goals to one behind to start the match, then extended the lead to 36 points by half-time.
The teams traded goals in a high-scoring third quarter and although Central Eyre could only manage three behinds to Wirrulla’s three goals in the final term, the task by this stage was too great for the Bombers.
Tyler Chapman helped the Bulldogs to victory with four goals, while Dion Pittaway got four at the other end.
Elliston got the better of Western Districts by 59 points in the B grade.
Led by Tristan Ryan’s three goals, the Roosters won 9-15 (69) to 1-4 (10).
Shane Pittaway was unstoppable with 11 goals as Wirrulla annihilated Central Eyre by 185 points in a 28-19 (187) to 0-2 (2) result, while West Coast defeated Wudinna via forfeit.
