Boat partially sunk at Port Lincoln Wharf

A BLASLOV Fishing Company vessel, Simoan, was back floating on Sunday after it was partially underwater on Friday.

The boat suffered significant damage to its bow at about 2am on Friday after it ran into iron beams at the wharf.

Simoan skipper Clinton Scharfe said the boat was undergoing repairs to its main engine and did not stand a chance in the high winds.

“It pierced the hull like it was a pin cushion,” he said.

“I was away in Adelaide at the time, but my first mate called and said he was having issues.”

“He phoned another crew member to come down, but within 10 minutes all 16 mooring ropes were snapped.”

Repairs on the boat will take several months.
