Recently 13 members from Port Lincoln Anglers Club joined five other members from around the state to attend the National Fishing Convention at Harrington in New South Wales.

Riley Peters and Heather Hampel won the National Casting Trophy in their divisions.

The group were competing against about 165 anglers in total from NSW, Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia and New Zealand.

While NSW proved to be strong with quite a large contingent of members, the South Australian teams and Port Lincoln members did enjoy some success.

Riley Peters and Heather Hampel won the National Casting Trophy in their division (juniors and veteran lady).

Annette Brasington was runner-up in the Casting Trophy in the veteran lady division.

Hampel and Brasington along with two other SA members were also successful in winning the veteran lady Team Casting Trophy.

At the dryland casting event, Riley cast an amazing 134.38 metres for two ounce distance and 104.82 metres for artificial bait, breaking the current South Australian records in both of these events.

The Port Lincoln Anglers Club was pleased with their achievements over the two-week championship which had some difficult weather conditions.
