The South Australian National Football League has appointed its new Eyre Peninsula football operations coordinator, who will now look to work alongside the region’s five leagues.

Richard Murphy has been appointed to the new role which will be a part of the new SANFL Regional Council that will look to strengthen Eyre Peninsula football’s long term future.

Mr Murphy has been involved in Eyre Peninsula football for most of his life and has a passion for the sport and local communities.

His involvement in football has included as a player, coach and administrator.

“Over the coming months I will be meeting personally with all clubs across the EP to build relationships and get a strong understanding of issues that clubs face, as well understand some of the great things that are already occurring,” Mr Murphy said.

SANFL Community Football manager Matt Duldig said Mr Murphy’s background in business would stand him in good stead.

“His passion and knowledge for community sport, together with his vast experience in business across the region, will be a terrific asset for both the Eyre Peninsula and SANFL,” he said.

Mr Murphy has received support from Ramsey Bros, who has provided a new Mitsubishi ASX to help him travel across the region.

Ramsey Bros group sales manager Tim Glover said the company was pleased to be able to support the new football coordinator role.

On August 3 the regional council members were revealed; Tony Irvine, Janine Williams, Darryl Montgomerie, Ned Luscombe, Joel Fitzgerald, Michael Evans and Sharon Crettenden.
