Lower Eyre councils will not bid for Masters Games

The three Lower Eyre Peninsula councils will not be making a joint bid on the 2020 SA Masters Games due to lack of resources.

Port Lincoln City Council decided in February to investigate the feasibility, alongside Tumby Bay and Lower Eyre Peninsula district councils, into making a joint submission.

However, in a report presented to the council, community services manager Janet Grocke said it was not feasible to put in a bid for the 2020 games.

Expressions of interest for the games are due in October.

A meeting between the chief executive officers of all three councils in July found there was insufficient resources at this time to host the games.

Mrs Grocke said the council was “not saying never” and a bid on a future games was possible.
