Coffin Bay local John Tiller is helping Australian farmers and their families take their mind off the farm and on to fishing.

Mr Tiller’s KEEN as FISH, South Australia Fishing Charters will take eight to 10 farmers on fishing trips to help them unwind from their busy lives in upcoming months.

He said being from the area he saw the struggles farmers on the Eyre Peninsula were going through and thought it would be a good idea to take some farmers out on a charter.

“There’s people hurting here and I want to help ease the tension by helping them refocus on the fishing rather than how hard they’re doing it,” Mr Tiller said.

“In February I’m taking eight farmers out from Coffin Bay for a three day charter.

“It will all be about the fishing, the food and some beers to help them enjoy a bit of a break from the harsh conditions.”

Everything will be provided for the farmers including food and equipment, but Mr Tiller said he is hoping for help to cover fuel costs.

Another charter is already organised for the middle of October out of Marion Bay for farmers over in the Yorke Peninsula, with other charters to run out of the Eyre Peninsula later in the year.
