FORTY-SIX years ago a concerned group of parents discussed the need for a suitable activity that their adolescent children could enjoy with their families.
Regular well-run dance classes seemed to fit the bill as there was a wealth of local, talented musicians to draw on and various local halls could be hired.
Thus the Port Lincoln old Style Dance Group came into being and has continued, without a break up, to the present.
Later this month, on Saturday, October 13 the group will celebrate its 46th birthday with a ball in the Anglican Parish Hall in Port Lincoln starting at 8pm.
There will be novelty dances, raffles, birthday cake and a shared supper.
Docking’s Band, which has been providing dance music for more than 60 years and is a regular to these dances, will play for this important event.
Everyone is invited to join the celebrations and make the 46th birthday of the Old Style Dance Group a night to remember.
