Port Lincoln Singers, Sing Australia share stage

The Christmas season was musically ushered in by the Port Lincoln Singers and Sing Australia at their Unity Hill concert, ‘A Christmas Combo’ on December 2.

Conducted by Maxine McFarlane and accompanied by Penel Jones, the Port Lincoln Singers presented three brackets of joyful songs, a standout being ‘For You Deep Stillness’.

Guests artists Judy Pearce (piano), Dianne Hester (violin) and Mike Hester (flute), the self-titled ‘Life Begins at Trio’ delighted their listeners with wisely chosen offerings.

Pianist Eric Deng revealed his prize-winning skills, playing with intensity and sensitivity.

Sing Australia, conducted by Helen Hookings and accompanied by Judy Pearce brightly opened the second half with three well-known songs.

The audience responded enthusiastically to the chance to sing carols with the choirs and Reverend Benji Callen was a sympathetic and appreciative master of ceremonies, encouraging singing for everyone.

Music lovers made the most of their time over a lavish afternoon tea discussing the programme, catching up with friends and exchanging Christmas wishes.
