STATE Emergency Service’s Marine Rescue were called to a stranded vessel at Boston Island near Haydens Point on Tuesday at 2.57pm.

The five-metre tinny had lost power and was in rough waters close to rocks.

SES unit manager Max Coulson said upon approach a fishing vessel was spotted towing the tinny after rescuing the two occupants.

Both the Marine Rescue and the fishing vessel proceeded to calmer waters to transfer the passengers to the SES and tow the boat back to Billy Lights Point.

He said the boat’s occupants, who were not local, were wearing lifejackets but unprepared for the conditions.

He also thanked the skipper and crew of the FV Craigmin for their efforts in the rescue.
