Free workshops to provide parents with the basics of positive parenting are being held at the Port Lincoln Library in February.

Three free sessions are available to families with children aged three to 12 years, and focus on the power of positive parenting, raising confident and competent children, and raising resilient children, respectively.

It aims at bringing simple strategies to help making raising children easier.

The workshops are delivered by the Department of Education’s Positive Parenting Team, and aims to align with a South Australian educational context and the Department’s strategic plan.

Sally Wilson, senior project officer for the Parenting and Family Support Programs at the Department of Education said they were pleased to be bringing the programs to Port Lincoln.

“We are really pleased to be able to provide parents in regional areas the opportunity to access these engaging and practical workshops in a local setting,” she said.

“There are 3 workshops in a series; they are general sessions that provide simple advice, strategies and tips for parenting support.”

Each workshop will go for 2 hours including time for a break and questions.

The workshops are run on February 12, 13 and 14, for which bookings are required.

Mrs Wilson says the department expects to run more workshops later in the school term.
