Footage from Port Lincoln’s anti-drilling flotilla last year is featured on Australian artist Vera Blue’s new music video.
Vera Blue teamed up with Greenpeace for the video for her single ‘Like I Remember You’, which features vision from the December 9 flotilla in Port Lincoln.
Greenpeace senior campaigner Nathaniel Pelle said the video came about through Flume, who they partnered with on another issue, and he helped them get into contact with Vera Blue.
He said footage of the flotilla and the marine wildlife in Port Lincoln was used to help showcase the community’s fight for the Great Australian Bight and the biodiversity in the area.
“Vera Blue was very keen to help and to put her musical talent to use by contributing to environmental causes, especially one concerning the ocean,” he said.
“We used footage of the colours and (marine) animals we captured on our boat tour, that are associated with the Great Barrier Reef, to help push for and showcase the Bight.
“Every Australian knows about the Great Barrier Reef, which is great but everyone should also know about the Great Australian Bight.”
He said to get a public figure to promote the message would help to humanise the fight against drilling in the Bight for some people.
