Welcome to the 2019 Port Lincoln Cup

Enjoy the colour, fashion and experience of thoroughbred horse racing at one of SA's truly picturesque racing tracks like Lisa Schmidt, Chloe Carr and Rhiannon Watkinson did at last year's event.

On behalf of the Port Lincoln Racing Club board, it is my pleasure to welcome all South Australian racing supporters and visitors from afar to the 2019 Port Lincoln Cup.

The support for the Port Lincoln Cup from such a broad range of people throughout Australia is absolutely marvellous and has established the Port Lincoln Cup as a major provincial racing event in regional South Australia.

As an autumn racing event, the Port Lincoln Cup attracts crowds in the thousands, numbers which create the atmosphere on the day and the challenge of the logistical movement of people.

This year the club will again be providing free bus shuttle runs from the foreshore area near the Maykbe Diva stature to the track from 10.30am to noon, and from the track back to the foreshore area after the races.

I would encourage patrons to take up the opportunity of the bus shuttle service.

I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in the formulation of the 2019 Port Lincoln Cup.

In particular, our course curator Neil Fox and his staff for their preparation and presentation of the Port Lincoln race track and our administration and hospitality staff led by Sue Brownrigg for their commitment to the planning and presentation of our feature race day.

Industry support for the Port Lincoln Cup is always significant and to this end, I acknowledge and thank the local, regional and visiting thoroughbred horse owners and trainers and wish them all well in their quest to achieve success over the course of the day.

Aside from action-packed racing, the day also features the colour and glamour of Fashion at the Races with fantastic prizes on offer for participants in the various categories: best-dressed womenswear, runner up best-dressed womenswear, best millinery, best footwear women and best-dressed menswear.

The best-dressed woman and man become automatic qualifiers for the state final to be held at Morphettville.
