Cummins Saucy Saturday to fundraise for Community Hall kitchen

Cummins is hosting a Saucy Saturday this weekend to help raise funds to upgrade the community hall kitchen.

The fundraiser on March 30 will be held in the Cummins Community Hall from 10am to 4pm and is gold-coin entry. 

Homemade sauce and relish competition entries need to be submitted at the Hall before 9am on Saturday.

Special guest Rebecca Sullivan will also host four workshops to share her world-renowned cooking insights.

Ms Sullivan is a self-taught cook, author of six books, and has worked with some of the world's best food producers, academics, activists and chefs.

She helped launch London's Real Food Festival, has been a taste curator on San Francisco's Slow Food Nation, has farmed coffee in Uganda and taught scientists in the Maldives for the United Nations.

She will host workshops on passata making at 10am and 11.30am and natural health workshops at 1.30pm and 3pm.

There is a limit of 25 people per workshop, participants should bring their own sterilised jars and take home products. Tickets are available at the door for $10 per person.

There will also be a homemade sauce and relish competition, thermomix demonstrations, a discovering granny's secrets panel, gourmet sausage making, mozzarella cheese making, easy lasagna making, displays and tasting.

Coffee and milkshakes will be on sale and lunch will be available to support the Cummins Men's Shed.
