Fatal crash at Tumby Bay

Major Crash investigators are at the scene of a fatal crash at Tumby Bay.

Emergency services were called to a single vehicle rollover on Bratten Road, Tumby Bay, near the silos, about 4.40am on Saturday, May 18.

The driver of the Holden sedan, an 18-year-old man, sustained serious injuries in the crash and will be airlifted to hospital in Adelaide later today.

His injuries are not life-threatening.

Sadly, his passenger, an 18-year-old man, died at the scene.

He is the 46th person to lose their life on South Australian roads so far this year.

The road toll at the same time last year was 29.

Both young men are local to the Eyre Peninsula.

Bratten Road is closed to traffic in both directions near the Lincoln Highway and is expected to remain closed for several hours.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible and use Lipson Road to the north of the town.
