Skits and Pieces comedy

The Port Lincoln High School is presenting this year's senior drama comedy production 'Skits and Pieces'.

This year's production will be different from others as year 10 drama students are also heavily involved for the first time.

The year 10 drama students have been working hard alongside their peers, the year 11 and 12 drama students.

Senior drama student Claire McCarthy said the combined year levels had helped the production.

"We have been able to come up with better ideas and new perspectives," she said.

"This has helped us to create a production that is truly student driven and owned.

"With the students taking on roles both onstage and offstage.

"Please come to see this wonderful production that will be sure to please you!"

The production 'Skits and Pieces' comprises of funny, recognisable and loved comedy skits based around the themes of food and language.

Claire said the skits came from a range of familiar comedic groups such as Monty Python and Abbot and Costello.

As well as some unfamiliar playwrights including Andrew Braun, Evan Guilford-Blake and Leon Kaye.

The production will be held at the Port Lincoln High School Hall tonight (Tuesday May 28) and Wednesday, May 29 at 7:30pm.

You can purchase pre-booked tickets to the 'Skits and Pieces' production for $15 from the Port Lincoln High School office or on the night at the door for $20.

Teacher Helen Marks said her students were in the final stages of rehearsals for their production this week.

"Students take on all aspects of the production, other than directing, from acting to all of the backstage elements," she said.

"As part of their learning, the students also take on the role & duties of publicity."

The students have been working very hard alongside their teachers to put the drama production together.

Guests will also be treated to a finger food platter created by one of the high school's food and hospitality classes during the production.

Guests will be seated cabaret style at a large table to view the drama production.

Soft drinks will also be available for purchase on both nights.
