Flashback Friday 2005 | GALLERY | Port Lincoln Times

It is the end of the working week and it is time to once again go back to past editions of the Port Lincoln Times for the weekly Flashback Friday.

Today we go back to editions between April and June in 2005 to see who made the news.

Who can you recognise from today's flashback?

In 2005 John Howard was Prime Minister of Australia while Mark Latham stood down as opposition leader, with Kim Beazley taking over unopposed.

In sport the Sydney Swans won their first VFL/AFL flag in 72 years after defeating the West Coast Eagles in the AFL Grand Final, Makybe Diva won a historic third-straight Melbourne Cup and the Socceroos qualified for their second FIFA World Cup, and first since 1974 after defeating Uruguay in the qualifier.

The top charting song on the ARIA charts in 2005 was The Prayer by Anthony Callea and the top movia at the Australian box office was Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
