It was a big day of football at Centenary Oval on Saturday for the first day of the Bendigo Bank Mortlock Shield.
The day opened with a women's football exhibition match, marking the first time women's football was played at the Mortlock Shield carnival.
Next up Lincoln Districts were the first team to earn victory, defeating Far West 10.6 (66) to 7.7 (49).
It was a much closer game next up with Eastern Eyre scoring a one goal win against Mid West 7.2 (44) to 5.8 (38).
Finally Great Flinders scored the biggest win of the day on the back of a strong second half, defeating Lincoln City 10.10 (70) to 6.3 (39)
The carnival will continue on Monday, opening with Far West v Lincoln City at 9.30am, followed by Lincoln Districts v Mid West at 11.30am and finishing with Great Flinders v Eastern Eyre at 1.30pm.
