Port Lincoln Baptist Church future part of planning

The Port Lincoln City Council will consider the future of the Port Lincoln Baptist Church building on the corner of Adelaide Place and Hallett Place as part of its strategic directions planning.

Local resident Kevin Smith has gathered signatures on a petition seeking a heritage listing for the church building, Flinders Theatre and the manse (clergyman's residence) located behind the church.

Mr Smith was informed his incomplete petition, which was missing signatories' addresses, would be noted and the buildings' future would be a part of the council's Strategic Directions Plan.

The council's chief executive officer Stephen Rufus said the church's future was being reviewed along with the location of the council's library and office facilities.

He said there would be community engagement and consultation before a formal decision was made.
