Renowned Australian comedian Fiona O'Loughlin is looking forward to engaging with the Port Lincoln audience when she brings her comedy show 'Gap Year' to the Port Lincoln Hotel on July 25.

Her show, which played at the Thebarton Theatre during the Adelaide Fringe on March 1, covers her experiences, starting just before her near-fatal coma in 2015 which was due to a faulty gas heater along with a couple of other things.

Soon after she was homeless and moved back in with her parents on the Yorke Peninsula before getting back on her feet and being crowned Queen of the African Jungle in 'I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here' in 2018.

O'Loughlin said she enjoyed coming to Port Lincoln and last visited with Peter Rowsthorn with their show 'Ron and Brenda Go Country!' in December last year.

She said coming from regional South Australia herself she loved performing in front of regional audiences.

"It feels like they get it, feel like I'm talking to my people," she said.

"I was planning to put (Gap Year) to bed after the Thebarton Theatre show at the Adelaide Fringe but then I thought I will take it to the regional theatres."

O'Loughlin said whether it was performing in front of a crowd at the Sydney Opera House to a smaller crowd in the country, each audience was a unique experience.

"Every audience becomes their own entity, you find out how they are early in the piece...and you just change gears related to the audience you've got," she said.

O'Loughlin said she loved Port Lincoln and being by the ocean, and was excited to bring her show to the Port Lincoln Hotel.
