Tumby Bay's monument to the district's history is soon to be completed despite delays due to weather.

The new design will incorporate glass panels depicting icons including agriculture, mining, community and shipping.

The council's chief executive officer Trevor Smith said work around the base would occur next week while the glass paneling installation would hopefully occur in two to three weeks.

The original tower, built in 1978, was taken down in 2013 when deemed unsafe.

The tower has been funded by a $60,000 Fund My Neighborhood grant, council funds and donations from the community.
