More than $5500 has been raised from Dry July participants on Lower Eyre Peninsula in 2019.

Nearly 40 people signed up for Dry July across the region in 2019, raising a combined $5559 to go towards the Dry July Foundation to provide services for cancer patients and their families.

Among them was 'The A Team', made up of Mallee Park footballers who collectively raised $624.05.

'The A Team' member Wes Bilney said it felt really good to raise that amount and to contribute to a great cause.

"It's always really good to touch the heart of all of the boys, as well as the families who had gone through (a cancer diagnosis)," he said.

Mr Bilney said the team might get together and do it again next year, and try to bring even more people on board.

Nearly 43,000 people went alcohol-free for July, raising more than $10 million for people affected by cancer.
