Cause of Port Lincoln unit fire to be investigated

Investigators will look into the cause of a fire which destroyed a unit in Port Lincoln Monday morning.

At about 1.40am two Port Lincoln MFS appliances, with support from four Lincoln CFS appliances responded to multiple calls of a structure fire on Grantala Road.

Upon arrival crews found a single storey unit, which was situated at the end of a row of three units was ablaze.

Firefighters faced challenging conditions due to a roof collapse but managed to control the fire within 15 minutes, before the fire could spread to an attached unit.

The fire was fully extinguished after causing significant damage.

There was no one inside the unit at the time of the fire and there were no reported injuries.

SAPOL and fire cause investigators will travel to Port Lincoln today to investigate the cause of the fire.
