When Sir William James Prouds opened his first Prouds store in Sydney in 1903, never did he imagine that one day, Prouds the Jewellers would become one of the largest and most trusted jewellery chains in Australia.
His vision, to make quality jewellery, watches and giftware affordable to all Australians, is still the fundamental mission today, more than 115 years later.
With more than 240 stores nationally, Prouds has buying power, enabling the business to provide customers with the best value and quality of jewellery.
Prouds is part of the JPL Group which also includes Angus and Coote and Goldmark.
The JPL Group is a family-owned international retail chain based in Australia and New Zealand.
The group employs more than 10,000 team members who service over four million customers a year.
On Wednesday, September 25, a few lucky locals got to enjoy the 'sparkle' at a VIP night before the grand opening of the new Prouds Jewellery Store.

Group regional manager for South Australia - Michael Laurens was particularly thrilled to share the grand opening celebrations with a very special local couple.
"I was absolutely honoured to hear that a beautiful couple celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary specifically waited for our new store to open to purchase their special piece commemorating their significant milestone," he said.
"This is the significance of the Prouds brand, that individuals and families choose to celebrate significant life moments with us and have done so for generations - that is very special."
"We are all very excited to bring Prouds to Port Lincoln"
"It has been so heart-warming to see everyone else as excited as we are to open, and the amount of comments thanking us for bringing such a quality store with such a huge range into the local Port Lincoln community has been overwhelming."
Michael is proud to share that every team member employed at the Prouds Port Lincoln store lives locally, and while building and setting up the store, local trades and business were used where possible.
"We understand what our biggest asset is - it's our people. We value passionate, and inspirational individuals in our team and we have many long-serving team members, who have stayed with the business for 20, 30, 40 and even 50 years," he said.
