The day's play commenced with club patroness Mary McNair passing the mat to 2018/19 runner-up singles champion Michael Cooke, who then placed the mat on the green.

Club patron Neil Parker delivered the jack and 2018/19 singles champion Lou Fuss delivered the first bowl.

Due to weather conditions the second game was cut short, which was disappointing, but the day was still enjoyed by all.

The winners of the day were the team of Michael Cooke, David Nankivell and Rob Gardner.

Runners-up were Graham Fraser, Jim Fuss and Vi Lennell.

Third prize went to the team of Chris Gardner, Geoff Will and Ron Clarke.

At the end of the day, about 60 people attended a shared tea, which finished off a very enjoyable day of bowling to start the season.
