Barrowcliff provisionally elected for Lower Eyre

David Barrowcliff has been provisionally elected as the newest councillor for the Lower Eyre Peninsula District Council after first preference votes were counted on Wednesday.

The council held a supplementary election to fill its one vacant councillor position with voting closed on Tuesday before counting began the next day.

Mr Barrowcliff was provisionally elected with 51.92 per cent of first preference votes ahead of fellow candidates Susanne Wegener and Terri Christensen.

In a Facebook post the Lower Eyre Peninsula District Council congratulated Mr Barrowcliff and thanked each of the candidates for nominating.

Altogether the commission received 1169 formal and two informal votes, which equaled 30.57 per cent of total enrolment.
