Changes have been made to school bus pick up and drop off points at Poonindie following a request to reduce the highway speed limit to 60km/h for student safety.
The Poonindie Community Learning Centre and the Lower Eyre Peninsula District Council have written to the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure to ask for a review of the 80km/h speed limit on the Lincoln Highway next to the school.
A spokesperson for the department said the department was yet to receive a letter from the council but was aware of the concerns and had previously held discussions with the Poonindie Community Learning Centre, the council and parents of students at the learning centre.
The spokesperson said there had been some recent changes to school bus pick up and drop off points to improve safety, "moving these points from the main highway to a side road".
"Any further investigation undertaken by the department will also factor in any potential impacts relating to possible increased grain truck traffic on the Eyre Peninsula."
