Anglers win state awards

Port Lincoln Anglers Club members received state awards at the recent South Australian Piscatorial Council presentation night in Adelaide recently.

The two major award winners were Donna Peters taking home Lady Angler of the Year and Annette Brasington won the Meritorious Freshwater Trophy for her capture of a 2.91kg carp on 0.5 kg line class.

In the top ten t-shirt competition this year's fish species was King George whiting and Port Lincoln won six of these awards.

First was Riley Peters with a 650gm whiting, John Peters with 610gm, Ed Korin with 540gm, Damien Paterson with 520gm, Trevor Prow with 520gm and Syd Calverley with 510gm.

The Australian Anglers Association national casting record was also announced on the night with Heather Hamper winning the ladies' division.

The cast was a 117.75m distance with a 56gm weight at the National Convention held at Wallaroo in 2015.
