More action at 2020 auto sprint

PLANS for the 2020 Teakle Auto Sprint and the changes that will make it a must-see event for racing enthusiasts near and far were announced on Friday.

Next year's two-day event will be held on April 11 and 12.

Event organiser Tony Rodda said drivers and spectators would be excited to know the long track would be used for racing on both days.

"In 2020 we will also have six large screens around the track and live streaming, providing more access to the racing action," Mr Rodda said.

A massive draw card for the event will be the attendance of seven-time Bathurst 1000 winner and Australian Hall of Fame racing car driver Jim Richards as a competitor in his Shannon's Porsche GT3 RS.

Mr Rodda said as of late Thursday they had also secured a 1988 formula one race car for the event.

"To see that here will be unbelievable," he said.

Event organiser Hagen Zerk said the 75 competing drivers would all bring something different to the event for spectators.

He said this was what made the Teakle Auto Sprint popular for everyone from car enthusiasts to local families.

"We will continue to have a wide variety of cars competing - from the ever-popular muscle cars and the latest exotic supercars through to Dan Day in his Subaru STI who will be back to defend his two Teakle Auto Sprint wins," Mr Zerk said.

The grassed area along Tasman Terrace will again be used as one of the most picturesque 'pits' in Australian motorsport events.

Mr Rodda said all general admission ticket holders would once again be able to get up close to the cars and rub shoulders with drivers.

Tickets and competitor entries are open.
