Unlicenced driver crashes in Port Lincoln

A man will face court after he allegedly failed to stop for police in Port Lincoln early Tuesday morning.

Just before 1.45am police tried to pull over a car on King Street.

The driver of the car allegedly refused to stop and took off at speed away from police.

The police patrol did not pursue the car.

Seconds later the car crashed in to a tree on Tasman Terrace.

Police arrested the alleged driver, a 23-year-old Elizabeth man.

The driver and a 16-year-old girl who had been a passenger in the car were treated in hospital for minor injuries.

The man has been charged with failing to stop for police, speeding and dangerous driving and driving unlicenced.

He was bailed to appear in the Port Lincoln Magistrates Court on December 10.
