Two people were arrested after a crash at Port Lincoln this morning, which led to the discovery of explosive material in the boot of a stolen car.
About 9.15am on Monday, November 18, police and emergency services were called to St Andrews Terrace, after reports of a two-car crash.
Police allege that a man and woman ran off from a red Subaru station wagon involved in the crash and further checks revealed the car was stolen.
The car was towed to the Port Lincoln Police Station for forensic examination and a further search at the station uncovered explosive material in the boot of the car.
Explosive Coordination Section members were called in to examine the material and dispose of it safely.
Further searches led police to a nearby caravan park, where a 41-year-old man of no fixed address and a 38-year-old Morphett Vale woman were arrested.
They will face numerous charges including illegal use of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, and other charges related to the possession of the explosive material.
