Kyle Chalmers could be recognised for a stellar 2019 with an AIS (Australian Institute of Sport) Sport Performance Award after being announced as a finalist for Male Athlete of the Year.
Chalmers was announced as one of six finalists for the award, which will be presented at a black-tie function at The Star in Sydney on Tuesday, December 10.
Also nominated are sailors Tom Burton and Matthew Wearn, cyclist Rohan Dennis, snowboarder Scotty James and hockey player Aran Zalewski.
Chalmers was recognised for his performances at the FINA World Championships in South Korea, which included swimming a personal best in the 100 metres freestyle to finish with the silver behind current world champion Caeleb Dressel.
He also finished the championships with a gold in the 4x200m freestyle relay, silver in the 4x100m mixed relay and bronze in the 4x100m freestyle relay.
