Ecologist and author John L. Read will discuss his book Among the Pigeons at the Southern Eyre Birds December meeting.
Mr Read has travelled the world consulting cat experts and collating the most recent science.
In Among the Pigeons he balances the allure of indoor cats with the animal welfare, human health, and conservation issues they create when allowed to roam.
Mr Read has a property near Secret Rocks Nature Reserve, which is a private protected area, about 36 kilometres east of Kimba.
The property was granted protective area status to protect the property's native vegetation, under the Native Vegetation Act 1991.
The reserve is bounded on its east side by Ironstone Hill Conservation Park.
Southern Eyre Birds' December meeting is on December 11 at 7.30pm at the Senior Citizens Hall, Hallett Place; tea and coffee provided. For more details call Steve Pocock 0427 822 750 or Brian Gould 0439 929 086. Visitors welcome.
This is the last general meeting for the year.
