Basketball goes pink for the evening

The men of the Cleve district had the opportunity to show their skill on the basketball court, all for a good cause.

Cleve Area School student Regan Taheny organised a pink day at last week's Cleve district basketball for a community studies project.

The event raised funds for breast cancer support.

Pink cupcakes were sold throughout the evening's matches, with pink sweat bands proving popular among the players.

The highlight of the evening was an exhibition match following the regular fixture, with men of all ages invited to participate.

The event proved popular, with four teams made up of current underage male players and men from the district facing off in a round robin competition.

Strong numbers allowed plenty of rest for the players with healthy benches for each team.

With no formal men's competition in the district, the rare opportunity to see the skills of the locals on the court drew a strong crowd into the night.

The event raised about $650 dollars for the cause.
