THE Tunarama committee is asking the community to spare some change for CFS brigades in Kangaroo Island and Cudlee Creek.
Tunarama committee president Sharon Humenick said the committee had unanimously decided to collect donations for the CFS.
The committee will be collecting donations in the parade and at most major events including the Tuna Toss and the fireworks.
Tins will also be at the information booth and committee members, entrants and volunteers will be roving around with collection tins.
"The Harvey Norman Tunarama Ambassador Quest gives back to our community every year through the fundraising entrants partake in throughout the months leading up to the Tunarama Festival, but after seeing the devastation and heartache caused by these fires and the tireless work of the CFS we want to do more for South Australia," Mrs Humenick said.
"We want to make everyone aware that we will be collecting donations over the festival and ask that our community please bring change along to the parade on Saturday, the Tuna Toss both Saturday and Sunday and fireworks Sunday night as we will be collecting around the festival and at these iconic events."
Mrs Humenick said 100 per cent of all funds raised would go to the South Australian CFS assisting Cudlee Creek and Kangaroo Island.
"Every little bit counts and we encourage everyone attending the festival and any sponsors or businesses to get involved... by giving what they can," she said.
"We can't forget the generosity of people who gave donations when Port Lincoln and surrounds were affected by fires in 2005, now it is our opportunity to repay the kindness."
