The 2020 Tunarama Festival kicked off on Friday night with the Ambassador Quest Gala Awards drawing a big crowd, as Miss Mitre 10 Port Lincoln Belinda Currie was named this year's Tunarama Ambassador.
Ms Currie said on the evening that she "didn't expect it" and thanked the community for their support.
"(My children) Gabrielle and Nicholas, you guys have been my driving force for the entire quest," she said.
"Every time I started to think it was too hard or I couldn't do it, you've given me the strength to dig a bit deeper and continue.
"To my charity the Royal Flying Doctors, the support you've given me during this time has been amazing."
Other award winners included Most Photogenic Zoe Pratt, Most Congenial Venita Ellis, and People's Choice and Highest Fundraiser Winnie Mrdjen.
Festival coordinator Svana Franks said Ms Currie would "make a great ambassador for the next 12 months".
"To also have a quest entrant with a disability really shows the inclusivity of this community event," she said of People's Choice winner Winnie Mrdjen.
Ms Franks said the visitation over the weekend had been "amazing" and she was "very happy" with how the festival went.
"We've had reports from stallholders that there was really great trading over the weekend," she said.
She also said the multicultural elements with the moon lantern parade to recognise the Chinese New Year worked well.
"Some of the feedback we were getting was that people were engaging in the arts who wouldn't normally engage in the arts," she said.
"It was such a spectacular sight along the jetty."
Ms Franks said events had been filled with participants, the sideshows and new rides were popular, and overall there was good behaviour from festival goers.
"We've had no reports of incidents, the crowds were very well behaved," she said.
"The Tuna Toss, such an iconic event, we had three or four thousand people watching that event."
She said it was great to see the 2019 champions reclaim their titles, and also said the Tuna Toss event especially for the cruise ship visitors on Monday was a hit.
"The main reason we stayed open on the Monday in particular was for the cruise ship, it's a great promotion for interstate visitors," she said.
