Port Lincoln year 1 student cuts hair for charity

Port Lincoln Junior Primary School student Charlee Frick has cut off her hair to go towards making a wig for a child in need, while also raising more than $6000 for Variety - the Children's Charity.

Charlee has been growing her hair out for the Variety fundraiser 'Hair with Heart', which involves people donating their hair to be made into wigs for children.

After growing her hair out to 35.5cm Charlee had her hair cut at a school assembly on Wednesday.

Charlee's friends Gia Reincke and Spencer Cimarosti helped cut off her locks, as did her brother Easton Frick and "special aunty" Jo Brumfield, with assistance from hairdresser Ashleigh Franklin.

Her father and brother showed their support by shaving their heads and her classmates wore 'crazy hair'.

Charlee said she wanted to get involved so "everyone can have hair".

She also said thank you to everyone who donated to her cause and helped make the "Big Chop" happen.
