Port Lincoln softball grand finals set
A GRADE
Roadrunners def Eagles 6-3
Port Lincoln turned on a fabulous day for the Preliminary final games on Saturday.
Roadies were first up with Tessa Rusden starting in the batters box.
She hit the ball into the glove of young gun Billie Jenkins as did Amelia Rusden.
An error in the field allowed Tegan Newman to advance and Charmaine Cross got on base but Hayley Wiseman took the third out with no runs crossed.
Eagles started with an outfield hit to Billie Jenkins but Bron Warland got under it and took the out.
Bel Watson had a safe hit to centre field but was tagged at second on the next hit.
Eagles on base but unable to score before the out was made.
Roadies second innings had runners on base but Wiseman pitched hard and straight and struck out two batters whilst young Jenkins made the other out with a gloved fly ball.
Eagles next bat was short lived with 3 consecutive outs shared around the field of Roadies.
Third innings and Roadies Newman started off with a double bagger to right field enticing her teammates to follow suit and get outfield hits bringing in three runs before being sent out to the field.
Eagles 3rd was not so good with three up three down with clean pickups from Roadies who all threw across to first base Neindorf for the outs.
Roadies fourth bat had more safe hits and good base running with Amelia Rusden smacking out a triple bagger to centre field assisting in three runs for the dig.
Eagles fourth had Wiseman and Wells crack single base outfield hits to centre field.
Eagles took full advantage of Roadies' error in the field and picked themselves up three over the plate.
Roadies fifth was a quick one at bat, Airlie O'Brien the only safe hit with the Eagles infield making the outs needed.
Eagles bat was as quick as Roadies with young Jenkins hitting out to right field to get on base.
She got herself to second base but Roadies tight field work did not allow her to advance the diamond any further.
Roadies Tessa Rusden put but to ball in the sixth but Billie Jenkins took the out.
Newman and young Rusden had centre field hits but fly balls from Cross and Jolly were caught with no runs scored.
Eagles bat again quick with three consecutive outs to the Roadies tight infield.
Last bat for Roadies started with a safe hit to youngster Kahsha Judge who advanced the bases by her team mates hits but Eagles made sure no more runs could cross.
Eagles had one more chance on the batting stick, Roadies Jolly started with a strikeout but McCarthy got behind the ball and cracked it out for a safe hit to centre field.
Amelia Rusden threw up the line to Neindorf and Jolly finished off the game with another strikeout meaning Roadies move into the grand final against Squaws next week.

B GRADE
Squaws def Shields 14-7
Squaws' Scanlon opened the game with a safe hit to left field to get on base.
She scooted to second on a misfield at first and her team mates moved her around the diamond to score with Shields infield picking up the outs to take too the hitting stick.
Shields started with Lawson popping up the ball to third base Becky Kemp.
Grantham cracked out a safe hit to centre field followed by an easy two bagger to right field for Miegel.
PJ got safe on base but all were left out to dry with outs made and no runs scored.
Squaws second innings started with Shields Miegel having a strikeout, Boyce had a good hit picking up a double bagger to right field followed by safe hits to Williams and Fowler.
Shields got the job done finishing the dig with a great double play and one run crossed.
Second bat for Shields and Squaws Scanlon got two quick strikeouts, hit the next batter but the out was made with a nice Fowler throw to first base with no runs made.
Scanlon started the third with a two bagger smash to centre field and got around the diamond to score before Shields tight infield did the job.
Third innings for Shields had fly balls caught by Perry and Fowler and a strikeout to Scanlon with no runs over the plate.
The next innings for squaws started with an outfield hit to Mills followed by a left field home run bomb to Boyce.
Williams got safe on base and scored from Fowler who hammered out a right field home run.
Shields then tightened in the field and got the outs but four runs crossed the plate.
Shields fourth was short lived with three consecutive outs to Squaws.
Squaws now in their fifth bat had Perry get safe by a centre field tonk followed by a two bagger to Mills at left field.
Shepperd took a catch at second for Shields before Williams smashed out a double bagger to right field.
Miegel pitched straight down the middle and picked up a strikeout and Lawson took a catch to make the third out with three runs scored.
Fifth bat for Shields Blackwell started with a two bagger crack to centre field and errors in the Squaws field allowed Shields to get two on the board.
Squaws sixth had Perry have an effortless triple bagger to left field but Shields Miegel stole the show making all the outs in the dig with only one run.
Shields got on base but pitcher Scanlon repaid the favour being involved in all three outs and no runs.
Last bat for Squaws started with Boyce having a double bagger to left field followed by a cracking triple bagger to Williams.
Sharon Kemp picked herself up an outfield hit to get on base crossing three runs for the dig.
Last bat of the game went to Shields as they unleashed and took full advantage of errors in the field.
They ran bases aggressively and were smart in the box and picked up 5 for the dig but unfortunately it was not enough.
Squaws will now take on the rested Roadies in next weeks grand final.

Roadrunners def Shields 14-9
The future of Port Lincoln softball was on display in this under 16 final between Shields and Roadies.
The game started with Shields into bat first, Roadies young Newman got straight to work with two strikeouts.
Eliza Hartwich got on base with patient batting and Dardy's double bagger crossed one over the plate before Newman finished off with another strikeout.
Roadies first had patient batting and safe hits to Newman, a double bagger to Cross at left field and safe to D'Agostini before Shields infield got the outs with three runs over the plate.
Second bat for Shields had Muller pick up a left field hit and aggressive base running got her around to third base.
Patient batting got the next two on base and then young Newman pitched straight down the middle for a strike out.
Airlie Hartwich bought Muller over the plate but Newman's pitching was bang on getting the next two struck out.
Roadies showed talent in the batters box in their second with safe hits a plenty.
All batters put bat to ball with single base hits spread over the field to O'Leary, Cummings, Judge, Woolford, Cross and Vlasssco.
Errors in the field were taken full advantage of grabbing their maximum seven for the dig.
Shields third had Darby caught out with a brilliant catch to Tahayah D'Agostini but Shields were patient in the box and had some safe hits of their own to young Shepperd, Muller and Darby as she faced the pitcher for the second time crossing their own maximum seven now trailing by one run.
Roadies were not finished with the bat and again Woolford and Newman picked up safe hits.
Cross hit up and Shields Muller got under the left field hit taking the catch.
Vlassco had a brilliant double bagger to left field but Darby and Eliza teamed up to took the next two outs with four runs scored.
Shields started their fourth but time ran out with Roadies taking the win to earn their spot in next week's grand final against Squaws.
