Suspicious fire near Wangary burns 40 square metres

Police are investigating a suspicious fire near Wangary Monday morning.

Just before 5am Port Lincoln police received reports of a fire in scrub land on the Flinders Highway.

Two Country Fire Service appliances attended and extinguished the fire after it had burnt about 40 square metres of grass verge.

Crime Scene Investigators attended later in the day and determined the fire was suspicious.

Police believe a man was wandering on Flinders Highway during the day and would like to speak to him.

The suspect is described as being a scruffy-looking Caucasian man aged in his 50s.

Anyone who may have dashcam footage from between 6pm on Sunday, March 22 and 12.30pm on Monday, March 23 on Flinders Highway at Wangary, or in the vicinity is also urged to contact police.
