Saturday May 16

ANOTHER huge Saturday field of 117 players included 95 men, with two visitors from Tea Tree Gully and Coffin Bay, and 16 ladies with six playing Match Play for the Fulwood Cup.

The event was a par round with Initial Reaction and Slape Crash Repairs sponsoring the day. Coincidentally, the son of the latter sponsor Adam Davies won A grade with +3 from Kris Bunder +1.

Jake Norris won B grade with +3 from Chris Cottrell +2, and Paul Oldacre counted out Ben Jaensch in C grade; both had +2.

Run downs went to Chris Baird, Rex Bichard, Dave Wallace, Chas Chambers, Stuey Pobke and Huey Rosalia, all with +1. Colin Gamble and Rick Kolega came in square. Rowena Fox won the ladies' event, square, from Carolyn Cocks -1.

There were seven birdies on the par-three holes, coming from Dave Wallace, Rick Kolega, John Strycharski, Dan Townsend, Corey Stephens, Garry Downey and Paul Polkinghorne.

Thursday May 14

The ladies' weekly competition was Stableford, sponsored by Tumby Bay Bakery.

Kaye Jaensch won with 38 points, from Val Sharrad on 37. Run downs went to Elaine Pierik 36, Helen George 34 and Kay Freeth 33.

Wednesday May 13

Lincoln Rural Supplies sponsored the mid-week competition, with 68 players hitting off. Dave Wallace won A grade with the score of the day (41 points) over Grant "General" Bamber (38).

Mark Cooper won B grade with 37 points, ahead of John Hussey with 36 and Gavin "Rabbits" Roberts took out C grade with 38, from Lindsay "Flash" Gordon on 37.

Run downs went to Ben "Benji" Sellen 37 and Dan "The Man" Townsend, Greg "Panic" Hughes and Darryl Scharfe all on 36. Ben Jaensch and Maurie Barrie led the rest with 35 points.

Birdies were scarce with Geoffrey "Chas" Chambers and Greg Barry scoring one on the 18th hole.

Sunday May 10

Twenty two players took part in a Stableford. Of the 17 men, Dylan Vonderwall won on a count-back from Jayden Lloyd; both had 38 points.

Mike Freeman won a run-down ball, Five ladies played, with Cindy Carr scoring 37 points to win from Helen George with 33.

Coming Events

The Fulwood Cup has eight qualifiers over the last two weeks and they played quarter-final rounds on Saturday, with handicap match play over 18 holes. There were two juniors in the field.

Dylan Vonderwall defeated Mick Hegarty on the 19th hole, Adam Sullivan lost to Don Henson one down, Ash Durdin lost to Dave Wallace 3/2, and Haydn Myers had a forfeit over Darryl Scharfe.

The next semi-final round sees Dylan Vonderwall against Haydn Myers and Don Henson will play Dave Wallace.
